My Tomorrows

Spellbinding moments turn into graveyards,

Turn into castles,

Turn into stones.

Why is this story still going backwards?

Did I lose hope?

Did I end up alone?

I loved and I lost you in the deep waters.

The hills echoed screams,

But not the sorrow.

If I had one piece of soul to barter,

I would give it up.

Take all my tomorrows.

Nail In A Coffin

You left dirty marks on my only altar,

You left thirty scars on my sinking trust.

Each corner of my church smells like regret,

Each nail in my coffin tastes like rust.

For The Hopeless

Put the animal in a cage

and put your pulsating rage in my pocket.

I cannot escape the heatwaves,

but I can empty my eye sockets.

Put the cynic in a cathedral

and play ethereal songs on loop.

We are really not making strides,

we are just stuck on an endless hoop.

Killing Dart

When I knew there was no light left in my windows

And there was no steel left in my sinking heart,

I let the streets know the name of my only traitor.

Not even the wind could catch that killing dart.

Good Times

The darkest storms pass

and the nicest words rot

and I wish things would last

when my stomach’s in knots.

The good times spill

and the bad days fade

and I outsmart my will

but never outrun my fate.

Under A Lid

I would have been so relieved if I saw your eulogy

Stating in no uncertain terms that you lost your legacy.

I would have jumped up and down like a joyous kid

While my rage trapped and suffocated you under a lid.

Cutting Lemons

The lemons I cut on my kitchen counter

Still taste sweeter than your biting lips.

The money I spent on chasing your love,

I made it all back in generous tips.

I do not want to hear that you’re sorry.

You can save your reasons and your voice.

The times will catch up with thunderous traitors

And screams will overcome the noise.

Long-Lost Friend

I did not have it in me to wish you good fortune,

I did not have the guts to say I prayed for your death.

It is funny how you can curse someone you love

And how you can watch them die in the very same breath.

I have grown too tired to speculate or try,

I have grown way too old for you to try me again.

Please promise me that when you finally pass

My scathing face will not remind you of a long-lost friend.

Kind Enough

You were not kind enough to leave me,

You were not wise enough to stay.

Am I only a sore topic to you?

Or a sour remark that ruins your day?

Every Cat

Photo by John Andrew Nolia Blazo

Every cat gets out of the bag if you push it.

Those five months flew right by you

While I counted each dime.

Every story has a wise and a foolish villain.

The former gets away

And the latter does the time.

Do you ever think of the repercussions?

I might be just a pawn,

Just a card in your game.

Yet I hold the token, I hold the gun.

I will pull those strings

Until you crumble in shame.
